We are looking for a network engineer, based out of our Los Angeles Headquarters, to join the Netflix Studio Network Engineering team. This team is responsible for the effective design and implementation of new network technology, upgrades, and refreshes at production facilities. As the network engineer, you will help deploy, scale, and automate the Studio networks in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. You will be responsible for the day to day operations of the Studio networks and work closely with our Network Architects and partners on designs, solutions, and implementations. You will create and update our network standards and ensure that the network is deployed to these standards.

Responsibilities

    • Manage and maintain multi-vendor, multi-protocol Studio networks
    • Develop and maintain consistency within the networking infrastructure
    • Analyze data to diagnose and identify root causes to network issues
    • Define, develop, and implement network monitoring and analysis tools
    • Document and maintain accurate configuration information and infrastructure documentation of all networking components and dependencies.
    • Work with our Network Architects to build and maintain a highly available, high-performance network infrastructure
    • Partner with cross-functional teams and vendors for problem resolution

Skills & Knowledge

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Strong knowledge of networking technologies and experience in the application of IP protocols.
    • Strong knowledge of and experience with major routing protocols like BGP and OSPF as well as firewall technologies.
    • Strong network analysis and troubleshooting skills.
    • Experience in documentation as well as creating and maintaining SOPs, maintenance plans, network diagrams, platform and configuration standards, etc.
    • Knowledge of Post Production / VFX applications and tools such as: Aspera, Faspex, AVID, and Video routing systems, etc. is a plus

Qualifications

    • A self-starter with at least 3 - 4 years of experience as a Network Engineer
    • Ability to work independently
    • Scripting and automation experience (Bash, Perl, Python, etc.)
    • Proficiency on network platforms including: Cisco, Aruba, Arista, and Palo Alto Networks.
    • Understanding and hands-on experience with routing protocols and configuration: BGP, OSPF, and IPv4/v6.
    • Media Production environments experience is a plus

Overview

The Digital Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of networking, security, storage, OTT, and file-based video processing systems and equipment as may be applicable to the facility in which they are based, as well as the configuration and support of external processing systems including services hosted in other Encompass facilities and in the Public Cloud. Equipment encountered in this position includes, but is not limited to, servers, network switches, firewalls, fibre interfaces, storage arrays, and other ancillary equipment. Role Responsibilities

The Digital Engineer will, under the guidance and direction of their designated manager, perform the following duties with respect to the company operated digital systems.

  • Design and implement broad scope digital video delivery solutions
  • Design and implement networking and systems infrastructure supporting both broadcast and digital video delivery solutions, including live and on-demand (VOD) products
  • Undertake corrective maintenance as necessary to restore any failed equipment to full working order
  • Undertake preventative maintenance to ensure the digital systems are fully operational 24x7
  • Liaise with third party vendors (e.g. equipment vendors and software providers) during fault resolution and new platform evaluations

Job summary:

The Post Production Engineer will provide technical support for all of the Company’s production and corporate software and hardware systems.

You will have a proactive, service-minded approach and will provide day-to-day support for the company’s users as well as responding to alerts and emergencies in a quick and timely manner. Additional responsibilities may include technical design, planning and implementation of new systems, configuration and recommending updates of existing systems and system applications.

As well as having a broad technical knowledge and experience, you will provide a hands-on, think-outside-of-the-box approach when problem solving. You will be a team player and have the ability to manage appropriate projects as required.

Overview

Systems Administrators will take ownership of the maintenance of Image Engine’s hardware and software systems. Overview

Lead Systems Administrator will take ownership of the maintenance of Image Engine’s hardware and software systems. The Senior Network Engineer team is responsible for the installation, maintenance, support and performance of all network systems including switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers, vpn’s, etc, and all related equipment and services, throughout the Lucasfilm and ILM facilities; domestic and international. 

As well as drawing on traditional IT techniques, the team takes advantage of modern DevOps approaches to ensure the availability of services that provide the core foundation of IT that are essential for the smooth operation of our multi-site, award winning film production and visual effects companies.

We have a position available to join our rapidly expanding London studio and facility. 

We are looking for an engineer with heavyweight networking expertise who is particularly  comfortable working in a corporate global organisation across three timezones and is adapt at dealing with senior stakeholders both technical and non technical. 

Some of the skills and competencies required are listed below;

Required Technical Skills:?
Network switching and routing (Brocade, in particular), firewalls (Palo Alto, in particular), load balancers, VPN appliances.
Knowledge of carrier technologies such as DWDM, BGP, IPv6 experience as well as the ability to work well with network providers for installation and troubleshooting.
Analytical and detail oriented.
Deep knowledge of networking technologies including: OSPF, BGP, VRF, MPLS, DWDM/CWDM, VxLAN, IPSEC, sFlow, Spanning-tree configurations and troubleshooting.
Have knowledge of IP and be able to troubleshoot various issues using packet sniffers.
Thorough understanding of system performance issues and tuning
Deep understanding of IT security concepts, procedures and implementations.
Proven experience designing, building, automating and running large-scale technical infrastructures in a multi-site, multi-platform environment.
Proven experience in mentoring peers to increase the technical skills and abilities of the team.
Excellent and thorough documentation skills.
Experience with cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud Platform.
Experience creating distributed, scalable systems that are fault tolerant and reliable.

Preferred Skills / Competencies:
Knowledge of ITIL framework concepts.
Experience in systems automation and config management eg. CFEngine, Ansible, Python, etc
Understanding of storage clusters, fiber channel, NAS and associated storage technologies.
Understanding of server and client operating systems across Linux, Mac and Windows.
Understanding of monitoring systems such as PRTG, Zabbix, InMon, etc 

Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Computing Science, or equivalent professional experience.
Demonstrable experience as a senior professional IT Network Engineer, preferably in the visual effects or computer animation industries (or similar), building and supporting networking technologies in a multi-platform high performance production environment.
