Axis VFX is seeking to recruit PRODUCTION COORDINATORS on an ongoing basis to work on upcoming VFX projects onsite in our Bristol based studio.

The candidate will be experienced in the day to day aspects of production including scheduling, task assignments, and general administration and organisational tasks.

You will also have a passion for, and preferable experience in episodic and/or feature animation productions.

The role requires an efficient, effective, organised Co-ordinator with experience working in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. We’re looking for a great communicator who can filter feedback from multiple sources in a clear and concise manner as well as a great motivator to help keep their team engaged and focused.

Candidates must be willing and able to work onsite in Bristol, and we may be able to provide visa sponsorship for exceptional candidates. This role offers opportunities on both a freelance and permanent contract basis.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Scheduling all departments and managing dependencies between departments.
  • Reviewing task assignments and approval status daily (inc offsite artists) to ensure the project is on track.
  • Compiling weekly status reports summarizing progress, risks and issues.
  • Liaising directly with Producer, Production Manager, Technical Supervisors and Creative Director.
  • Direct liaison with clients for ground-level deliveries and communications.
  • General administration and organisation tasks.

REQUIREMENTS

  • The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years experience within a CG related environment.

  • A solid work ethic and positive attitude in the face of challenging situations is vital.
  • Attention to detail is essential.

NB: Although experience in a CG / Animation studio is of great advantage in this post it is not essential and applicants who can demonstrate appropriate skills and experience in production will also be considered.

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Work cross-site with Artists, Leads and Heads of Departments to identify production needs

  • Test and debug tools and process to ensure stability and usability

  • Act as a liaison for communicating technical issues to Production, R&D and IT

  • Working knowledge of Shotgun, FTrack or other production tracking Python API

  • Strong experience in Python

SUMMARY

The Senior Systems Administrator reports to the Director of IT for our Vancouver and Los Angeles studio locations. Day-to-day tasks include basic help desk support via a ticketing system supporting 350+ users, and responding to alerts and emergencies in a quick and timely manner. Position Overview: Responsible for overall facility support and continuous daily operation of the Computer Art, Computer Animation & Visual Effects Department

 

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

 

  • Develop, establish and maintain professional relationships within the SVA community and with hardware and software vendors to insure successful technical and facility functions.
  • Daily assessment of FACILITY readiness to support instruction.
  • Responsible for the research, development, acquisition, installation and contract maintenance of all software, hardware, networks, sound and HD video equipment.
  • Establish and oversee in-house training for staff lab assistants and part-time staff on any/all new technology initiatives being implemented with Director of Operations.
  • Annual preparation and daily management of the departmental budget, including but not limited to the following: monthly reports, quarterly reconciliations, budget research and budget forecasting.
  • Work closely with the Director of Operations regarding room schedules and assist with other curriculum issues as needed.
  • Supervise and review performance evaluations for Systems Administrators.
  • Conduct regularly scheduled meetings with Systems Admins   
  • Stay abreast of current software and hardware developments and keep Director of Operations and Chair appraised of appropriate innovations.
  • Manage and Supervise FO Managers in their duties of:
  • Daily operations and upkeep of classrooms.  (Projectors, opening/closing of dept., monitor AC, be aware of technical problems)
  • Ensure students follow policies
  • Web site and internal wiki maintenance
  • Inventory, maintain and Check-in/Check-out of equipment and library resources
  • Schedule, train, and evaluate Lab Assistants in coordination with Director of Operations.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MA or MFA and/or production experience preferred.
  • Supervisory experience with demonstrated success
  • Broad knowledge of computer art software and hardware, including PC, MAC, 3D, Video & Sound
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; Ability to interact with administration, staff, faculty and students
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills

Duties

  • Establish certain looks and/or solve particular design or effects challenges for key visual effects shots.
  • Full shot compositing including paint and roto when required.

  • Prioritize and revise work based on direction from supervisors.
  • Meet project milestones and deadlines on time.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of compositing workflow and other major aspects of post-production.
  • Possess a keen eye for colour and colour matching.
  • Ideal candidate will have 7+ years industry experience in commercials, film or TV.
  • Strong understanding of multiple aspects of the VFX pipeline.
  • Be comfortable working with clients.
  • Excellent communications skills.
