Requirements:

Sr. Workflow Software Developer

The Software Development team at Marvel Studios is looking for a new workflow developer. This team and the larger technology department have a mission to seamlessly aid in the success of some of the most epic stories ever told.


The Workflow Developer will analyze existing production and technology workflows looking for optimizations and efficiency gains. This Developer will also create new workflow tools and corresponding best practices that compliment both the production requirements and the appropriate technology platforms. The focus of this position will be on pre-production data workflows, dailies and review workflows and systems, vfx tools, stereo workflow, and post production collaboration between all departments and vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Develop tools and workflows to directly improve the efficiency of production users
  • Analyze production procedures and problems, recommending effective solutions
  • Effectively communicate workflows and workarounds to end users
  • Document production data pathways and toolsets for ease of communication and training
  • Participate in code design and code reviews within the software department.
  • Integrate third party tools into our pipeline, such as Nuke, Maya, Houdini, and RV.
  • Provide support for tools and systems across hundreds of production users and vendors.
  • Learn about new technologies and techniques that will improve the production quality of life.

Basic Qualifications

  • 4+ years experience developing within a film, commercial, or similar production environment
  • Very strong experience developing in Python/PyQt and C/C++ for tools and libraries
  • Managing projects within and administration of source control systems (svn or git)
  • Experience developing across multiple platform environments (Linux, Windows, or OS X)
  • Strong user-facing skills, with the ability to understand and react to changing user requirements
  • Excellent analytical and logical problem solving skills in novel areas
  • Disciplined approach to software development, adhering to development best practices

Preferred Qualifications

Your mission

  • UNIX/LINUX server experience, including expertise in system installation, configuration, administration, troubleshooting, performance tuning, preventative maintenance, capacity planning, monitoring, and security procedures;
  • Oversee data backups and archives;
  • Support a wide array of software packages both internally developed and purchased from third parties (ie. Maya, Mari, Nuke, etc.);
  • Support multiple hardware and operating system platforms including Windows, Linux, iOS and occasionally Mac as well as related software, printers, networks, remote access, and connectivity;
  • Work with management and the greater technology team to continually support procedures and policies and recommend process improvement;
  • Proactively fix issues by developing software code to eliminate problems before they happen.

  • Minimum 2-3 years experience in Systems Administration or Systems Engineering, preferably in a production setting;
