Overall Function

We require a web programmer/designer to build, maintain and update the Company's internal and external websites.

Main Responsibilities

The main focus of the position is to develop and support our intranet and public websites.

You will liaise with the Creative Director and Marketing departments on external website designs and implement agreed designs into interactive content using modern web-design techniques. You will be responsible for designing underlying database schema, coding the front-end and backend presentations, and preparing and editing content for the web. Systems administration is also required, covering software installation/upgrades, data backup, system monitoring and reporting of analytics to relevant parties.

You will also work with the HR department on an internal database system to manage the workflow of job application submissions from the external website using REST APIs and to help build and maintain internal HR systems for example a custom built HR database, online exit interview and appraisal system.

In addition, you will work in co-operation with the Technical Services department to manage internal documentation content on the intranet using CMS/Wiki based solutions and undertake ad-hoc projects relevant to the role as and when required.

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in content management systems and demonstrable experience in developing with Ruby on Rails, MySQL and PostgreSQL.

Experience / Skills

 

    •       Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

       •        Thorough and demonstrable knowledge of web application development using the Ruby on Rails frameworks, including test- and behaviour-driven development, documentation and deployment.

       •        Technical understanding of HTML, XML, CSS, JavaScript/jQuery, AJAX, REST, media queries and progressive enhancement techniques. A demonstrable experience in UI/UX design would be advantageous.

       •        Solid experience of influencing and implementing design briefs.

       •        Experience of supporting, designing and implementing SQL database systems using MySQL and PostgreSQL.

       •        Experience with systems administration of UNIX-based Apache web servers.

       •        Additional knowledge of technologies such as Plone CMS, MediaWiki, Lucene/Solr, PHP, Perl, Python and Subversion would be beneficial. Basic knowledge of Photoshop and video encoding and compression tools are a plus.

       •        A strong working knowledge of Linux and/or Mac OS X is essential.

       •        Able to work on multiple projects at any one time, whilst producing work to a high standard.

       •        Able to work well in a team environment, take direction, prioritise work and hit deadlines.

       •        Able to work pro-actively and adapt to and learn new technologies as and when required.

       •        Experience of the Visual Effects industry is useful but not essential.

HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Serve as the initial point of contact for resolution of desktop/workgroup-related problems in a startup user environment. Troubleshoot research, diagnose, document, and resolve technical issues surrounding Windows 7, Centos 5, MS Office, e-mail, Internet connections, and hardware/peripherals IT systems and support their users in an efficient, professional, courteous, and prompt manner.

  • Setup and upgrade computer systems in a networked environment with minimum end user interruption
  • Timely implementation and maintenance of drivers & patches on workstations
  • Research and recommend hardware and software solutions as needed
  • Administer mail systems, system installation and configuration, printing systems, installation of third-party software

Responsibilities:

  • Manage studio resources, including disk space and CPU utilization.
  • Prepare incoming/outgoing data transfers.
  • Troubleshoot and correct failing tasks.
  • Assist users with hardware, email, network, peripheral problems and troubleshooting.
  • Perform backups and restores; maintain tape library and database; update online database.
  • Perform regular maintenance on computer hardware.
  • Monitor the entire studio computer network and queue system.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Assistant Technical Director provides front-line technical support for the artists and assists senior-level technical staff with day-to-day tasks. They are responsible for designing, developing and improving production focused pipeline workflow processes. They may also be called on to do shot work when necessary during production. This position provides the applicant with the opportunity to be exposed to multiple aspects of the Arc Pipeline, and to gain insight into a studio that manages simultaneous projects from series television to feature films.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

- Provide general technical support to artists and Technical Directors

- Run various scripts for checking and publishing of assets

- Minor troubleshooting of scripts and processes

- Light data management

- Create technical documentation

-Learn current pipeline and work within the confines of the existing technology

 

MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE:

- B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent job experience

- Knowledge of, and experience with, 3D modeling/animation software (i.e. Maya or 3DS Max) a must.

- Excellent problem-solving skills involvement in small teams tackling big multi-discipline projects

- Experience with one or more scripting languages - primarily Python, C++, MEL is nice to have

- Exceptional communication skills in dealing with both technical and artistic groups

  • In depth knowledge of Maya.
  • Experience writing Python and MEL scripts.
  • Rigging background preferred.
  • Any motion capture experience is highly beneficial.
  • Ability to clearly communicate with technical and non-technical team members.
